Señor Jorgé Luís gravitated to me while I sat at an exclusive Puerto Rican Senior Club in El Barrio. Curiously he asked “What are you doing here?” I share with him that I am working on a project documenting advice from our Elders to be shared with a younger generation.
“Is there anything you’d like to tell a younger generation?”
“We, ourselves [ Puerto Ricans], we have to sing, dance, write, record, document, our history. If not, it’ll be their version of our history in the books. It is so important. I am passionate about singing out history. You know, when you are passionate about something, you will always be passionate about it. That energy lives in you and that energy will always want to be released. Look at me, at 79 — this passion, this energy still lives in me. I love to sing and I’ll never stop singing.
Can I sing for you?”
I truly love this song, Thank you for singing your Bendición Señor Jorgé Luís
